The 5 Hour Pre-Licensing Course (5 Hour Class) is a NYS DMV-approved, standardized course that provides the knowledge you will need as a new driver. The course covers many important topics, including:

alcohol, other drugs, and driving

• New drivers must complete the course before taking a DMV road test and applying for a license, unless they complete a 48-hour Drivers Education Program through their local participating high school or college.

• You must have a valid NYS DMV Photo learner permit to enroll in the course.

• Class Certificates may be mailed or picked up the following business day. That certificate is required to schedule a test, and must be brought to your road test to turn into the examiner.  

• Pre-licensing Course Certificates are valid for one year from the date it is issued.

• Please download the Zoom App prior to your class.
